I've been wanting to participate in Carla's My Sacred Life Project, and I thought what better time to start than November 1st, when I also begin participating in National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo), too!
I'd like to thank Carla for the inspiration to show and talk about what is sacred to me. As she says, "It might be my altar, a candle I'm burning, my dogs, the garden, a friend, a book I'm reading, nature, something I did, someplace I went, something important to me, or, who knows, maybe just my morning bowl of Cheerios!"
I'm looking forward to this, and I hope you all will enjoy!
My Sacred Life
Day 1
Max is the one with the stubby tail and floppy ears; he's a mixed breed adopted him from Buddy Dog in Sudbury, MA. Wolf has a curly tail; he's a Shiba Inu and I adopted him from a co-worker.
Once I was a cat person; cats are easier for those of us that aren't so responsible; they don't have to be walked, they're ok on their own (with big bowls of food and water) if you decide you want to go out after work unexpectedly or even go away for a weekend. Cats are cool with that. Dogs? Not so much.
Dogs make you live in the present, completely.
Dogs have to be walked, or at the very least, if you're lucky enough to have a big yard, hooked to a run. But they can't hook themselves up; you're the one with opposable thumbs and YOU must do that for them.
You must brush them and feed them and pet them and throw toys for them! You must interact with them, each and every day.
I didn't have time for that when I was younger. I wanted to go, to see, to do. Now that I'm older...I've gone, I've seen, I've done and I don't feel that drive to HAVE to go out so much now. I'm more content and that translates into being the sort of person dogs like to belong to.

What a great idea :) -- You are right about cats being easier...that is part of the reason why I have not yet gotten another dog but the fact that dogs require so much more I think you get more out of it :)
I used to be a total cat person and then I met Shubi and my life changed! I am now a total dog person!!!
Your boys are just too damn cute. I love the shot of them on the beach, it’s my favorite. “Dogs make you live in the present, completely.” That is so completely true! I’ve never thought of it in exactly that way, but you’ve hit the nail on the head.
You post evoked a lot of similar feelings in my about my dog as well. Animals are sacred and touch us in a way many humans never will.
That picture of your pups in the fridge is the best. They look like bears at a camp site.
love the pic of them in the fridge....was that for an SPF??
Beautiful friends your dogs, my god, they are gorgeous!
And wonderful post. Did you know that having a dog makes your biological age 9 years younger? All the walking and company I guess!
Looking forwar dot following this kindof vision quest about what is sacred to you Janet...have fun!
Awww, they are very lucky! :-D
i love your dogs, they are so cute!
michele sent me to see them. :)
I love your line, "Dogs make you live in the present", and strangely I had a dream about a dog last night. I have been thinking about getting a dog again, lately.
I love your photos of Max & Wolf, as they show that they are your family, your confidants, as much as together, they are partners in crime. And yes, that icebox photo is priceless, as Wolf is the culprit, and Max the look-out! ROFLMAO !!
I can tell ~ they are the "sacred" of your heart.
I LOVE them!
My housemates keep talking about getting a dog but none of them are every home enough to see to its needs. So it'd fall to me and I'm just not a dog person.
Hi Janet! The pictures of the dogs are adorable- I love that fridge picture! Though I've seen it before it is hilarious.
The card came today thank you so much for it & your kind comments on my blog.
Hurray for dogs! Yours are sweet.
I love your photos. Max and Wolf are so cute!!
