Flying away

Originally uploaded by fondofelves.

I took this picture earlier in the day Mom passed away...

I'd like to thank everyone who commented over the last couple days. It's amazing, the outpouring of love and good thoughts and I appreciate it more than you can know.

I wanted to share another poem that I received today ... it captures exactly how I feel:

Death is Nothing At All

Death is nothing at all.

I have only slipped away in to the next room.

I am I, and you are you

Whatever we were to each other ,that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you used to.

Put no difference in your tone, wear no false air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Let my name be ever the household name it ever was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.

It is the same as it ever was: there is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.

"All is well."

- Henry Scott Holland, Canon of St Paul's Cathedral, 1847-1918

The picture is beautiful I really love the seagull, it made me think about how it would feel to fly free above the waves and then dift down to touch the sea only for a second and then wings spread fly back up into the sky. The poem is great too!!! I am so glad you posted both! Love Ya!

That's beautiful. It's really how I feel too. If we speak of them with love and ever use their naes and smile, then Uncle Betty, Katie and the others will live forever in our hearts and in our lives.
Also Uncle Betty would have loved the picture! Her favorite place to be was on a beach!

What a wonderful poem - as the initial pain dulls, you will come to realize how true it is - I lost my mom years ago, and still talk to her every day. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

That poem has always been very uplifting and hopeful to me. I really believe in it.

I hope you are finding some comfort.

I love the ocean, it gives me a sense of the timelessness of our world and that it will still be here, long after we have moved on.

Big hug. Take care.
