83 years, 9 days...

My mom passed away last night...

December 9, 1922 - December 17, 2005

My cousin, Melodie, sent me this poem this morning...I thought I'd share it with you.

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"

Gone from my sight. That is all.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout:

"Here she comes!"

And that is dying.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss; there aren't any words to say when you lose a parent. I'll pass this on to you, as it was passed to me when my Daddy died.

"The pain passes, but the beauty remains."

Keeping you & your family in my thoughts & prayers. God Bless y'all.

I am so very, very sorry Janet. I've been offline for a couple days and just came back to catch up and am devasted to find out that you lost your mom at all, let alone this close to the Christmas holiday. I think there should be a cosmic law against any deaths in December!

I will definitely keep you and yours in my prayers and thoughts and above everything else wish you peace over this time of grief.

Wonderful picture and thoughts to commemorate your mother.

Words seem so empty...I'm really sorry.
