My Sacred Life
Day 5
I love memes! I pronounce it meemee, whatever, they're fun! I know some of you dislike them and think they're mere blog fodder...but I respectfully disagree. I like them for getting to know folks better. If you think about it, a meme functions much like a prompt. You can elaborate on your answer or not. I'm selective about memes, and this one is one of my favorites: Manic Monday, hosted by my blog friend Lisa. This is what she has for us this week:
Describe yourself in one word: Quiet.
What is your favorite kitchen utensil and why? My 7" Santoku knife!

Those hollow recesses make for clean slicing, dicing, chopping and mincing and man does it work; this sucker makes quick work of anything from carrots to meat to...well...just...keep your fingers out of the way, k?
What is the one thing that frightens you the most about growing old? Just one thing, huh? Well...I guess becoming homeless is my greatest fear. I'm working on my finances now (better late than never) and hope to have things straightened out in a year.
Thanks, Lisa, for coming up with such an interesting meme!

Why thank you, my dear. I'm glad you like it and you host one of my favorite never-miss-it memes-- The Friday Fill-In. I must say that your dedicated site is a lot prettier than mine. :-)
I picked a knife too. I just love chopping things. Well, food things. ;-) I'm no Lorena Bobbit. LOL Anyhow, is that Santoku really good? I love, love a nice knife!
Homeless, I never thought of that. I was just talking about Social Security (and the lack thereof) with my son this morning. Nothing is guaranteed for the future, is it?
Thanks for playing!
Oh, and for the record, I agree with you on memes. It's all what you make of it. I like it when people elaborate. You can learn a lot about someone that way.
Quiet people with knives scare me just a little bit. Sort of like finances.
Is that your desk? Great picture if so!
I like mems too...but I am fussy, I think there are good memes and lame ones...although I don't know if I could write a description of what defines either...plus, I think a good writer can make a lame meme rather fun.
I like them for the reasons you say too because they help us have a topic and get to know other people in a new light. I just reada "therapy" meme that I thought was cool today on someones blog. Wandering Coyote at my bloggroll if you want to check it out.
I wrote somethign about sleep recently and would love to have your feedback and perspective...
hey there - i *do* like meemee meeeeems :)
and yours was fun to read. now i need to decide if i'm going to do it or not...
it's been too long since i've visited you - sorry about that. it was michele who reminded me to stop by *smile*
Being alone is my greatest fear as I age.
Im not particularly fond of meemees but I'll play along just for fun.
Hmmm.....quiet + kitchen knife = scary
gotta watch out for the quiet ones, my grandma always said!
i so loooove my santoku! and yes, be careful with those fingers!
I like memes to pass the time, my biggest issue with them is most of the time the SAME ones go round and round. As for one word to describe myself I think it would be allovertheplace. LOL
is that your desk? That would be a great Thursday 13...
I just got a new cookbook, and I need to get some knives, but I feel nervous about it with kids in the house...
I love memes too! For the same reason you do: I think it gives little glimpses into the blogger that you might not otherwise think to share! And sometimes a question makes me think so much, it becomes a blog post all its own.
