My Sacred Life
Day 6
I love rainy days...as long as they don't equal a month, as it did in Japan. All June, all rain, all the time. After awhile, ANY sound you love would get a bit irksome if you heard it all day and night EVERY day and night.
But...I woke up this morning, early for me (6:40 am MaryEllen!!!) and decided to catch up a bit on my reading. How comfortable to be in a nice warm bed, snuggling with a plush shiba inu, listening to the rain fall just outside your window and reading a good book...ahhhh.
When it rains, it brings back memories of walking a mile to school in a raincoat and rubbers (hey, it's what we called 'em back then), splashing through the puddles. For some reason, it's also a bit of a melancholy memory...not sure why...maybe all that walking?
Do you like rainy days? Do they bring back memories for you? Wanna share?

Living in Washington state, I get to enjoy a lot of rainy days. One of my dreams as been to live in a house with a tin roof, so I could hear the plink of the rain as I lay curled up under the warm covers...I just love that sound.
I have notified the news of your wake up time, they would like to show film at 11. 6:40, isn't that really like afternoon though?
Love, love, love rainy days! Especially when I don't have to go out in it.
Hey, what do you mean we are really different?
I just had to come back over and say I was not dissing Stephen King...the man is my hero, and I use his book on writing, The Craft, in my teen writing classes. My point was that many people would not consider him age appropriate for a thirteen year older...I lived and breathed Carrie, Christine, Thinner.
Oh, I like rainy days, but I’m with you, not when it is for months on end. We had rainy months like that in Hawaii too. I remember climbing the walls several times until I finally figured out to get out there in the rain anyhow. Rainy days are even better when you can stay curled up in bed with a book and a fire (if it’s cool.) But unfortunately for me, 6:40 a.m. is not sleeping in! ;-)
Hi Janet! Michele sent me (but sometimes I come just to look at Alan Rickman) :D
I love JUST what you did--on a rainy day, snuggling up with a good book and letting the rain serve as the perfect backdrop.
Hehe, we called them rubbers when I was a girl, too. :)
I like rainy days once in a while! But, I could never live somewhere where it rained for days on end. When I lived in Florida it would rain every day during the summer - but, it would be a shower and then gone...
The rain here in New England is different. It gets a lot grayer and stays gray. But the rain seems to be softer (I know that doesn't make sense - but I don't know another word for it)...it's not that heavy beat up the world type rain...Like today...
Rain always means a good book, hot cocoa (or coffee, or tea)...and sunggling under a quilt in a big comfy chair.
I do like rainy days... as long as they don't stick around for weeks.
But I find the rain quite beautiful and the sound quite soothing. Good day to read or watch old movies.
I like rain...grew up on Canada west coast once it rained for 22 days in Victoria winter. At some point it did get to me...but mostly I will even go outside in the rain.
I love swimming outside in the rain actually.
And...it is cloudy here today and I've used it as an excuse to surf the net and go back to bed and read a mystery novel.
I love the rain....it is very calming and cleansing to me. I go to sleep every night listening to a CD of rain.
BUT two kids under the age of three DO NOT like the rain.....they do not like to be cooped up in the house. I have been known to put them in raincoats and boots and send them out to play though! This past spring it rained for almost 6 weeks..so we did that often so we didn't go crazy!
You know, it almost never rains here. If we get rain, it's such a new and different thing that no one really knows what to do about it. Snow on the other hand???
Snug with a book in bed? Ahhhh!
yes, I LOVE rainy days...ESPECIALLY if I can stay home all tucked in nice and cozy.
And if its a rainy day with thunder and lightning even better! Then I want to be outside (if its warm enough) walking in it!! I LOVE that!
A rainy day keeps the nature alive. We, that do have so much of it, do not think about allmost 50% of this planets population suffer from lack of fresh water.
Yeah, I have lot's of good memories, even funny ones, but that's something I've come back to when my travelling periode will slow down a bit
I love sleeping to the sound of rain. It is so soothing.
One memory I have from childhood is during a summer rain we would put on our bathing suits and go out and play in the rain and puddles. Such fun!
A lady I used to take care of said, "Rain makes you Beautiful!" And I think it does.
A month's rain would be a good thing in this drought-ridden country.
I like rainy days, there is something comforting about them for some reason.
That is a cool capture of the raindrops! Rain makes me feel relaxed, but I do have a bad memory of the rain...
I like rainy days and someday I am going to get me a true pair of wellies!
I'm not a big rainy day person... but I think of you and how you like them, so I try to give them a chance. ;)
I don't just like rainy days, I LOVE them. I like the notion of taking shelter and soaking up the contrast of my warm, dry, cozy interior against the weather drama on the other side of the roof. We used to have a motorhome when the kids were younger, and hearing the rain on that metal roof while we sat inside with card games and popcorn was always a delight.
