A friend of mine sent me an interesting email recently. She said: "Just wanted to tell you that I woke up from a dream about you feeling a huge sense of "ok, everything is going to be alright now". Don't know what that means, don't remember the dream, just that I felt very worry-free about you."
Which led us, in a typical meandering fashion, to the following conversation:
me: speaking of doctors and House, you watch that show, right?
her: not regularly, I love it though, I think House is hot.
me: I, of course, can't stand the show, but he was on SNL last week and he was a funny funny bastard!
her: don't you think he's good looking?
me: no, he's ok looking, i just HATE the character! so frickin' mean
her: I think that's what makes him so hot
me: yeah, well, you go on your masochistic lil way honey ;-) I'd prefer a man who is a bit nicer...say Professor Snape :-)
her: SNORT

An excerpt from a interview with Alan Rickman in a French magazine, Total Star, back inApril/May 2005 (it's a rough translation from French to English):
TS: Did some fans address you with loathsome remarks?
AR: In fact, very little did. What is splendid is that people in general adore Snape. He is sarcastic, stubborn, etc, etc. But he is also fascinating. I have a lot of fun impersonating him, I take immense pleasure in playing someone so ambiguous.
Comments
I like house's comments, not as much as a doc. I don't really think he's hot though.
I don't necessarily like mean men, but I hate a lot of the romantic stuff. If the guy genuinely loves to give you roses everyday, I guess that's ok - but don't kiss my toosh. Just be yourself.
I think House's character is a a$$ - the only attraction that comes for me would be in the challenge - nothing else. He's not hot in my book.
Alan Rickman....hotter, but ambiguousness in men ..hmmm...I think I prefer a straigh shooting clear cut guy...like say...Bon Jovi ROFLMAO
You REALLY need to see Rickman in Sense and Sensibility!! He really is a great actor.
I like Snape's ambiguousness, cos you're never really sure which side he's on. His voice is sooooooooooooooooo sexy, I love listening to it.
So many girls dig the mean guys. I confess I've never understood it, and always privately hope that eventually they'll come round to liking guys who will be kind to them. Or at least keeping their mean guy crushes to fictional guys. ;)
Me...I don't like the mean ones. I want somebody who can be kind to me! :)
I shall refrain from comment on Snape of course. He's taken. ;)
Snape is sexy and snarky....and...ohhh...that voice of his resonates like black velvet. There is no one I would rather be stuck in a potions closet with than Severus Snape.
Dr. House? No...sorry...he just doesn't do it for me....and I would probably end up punching him out if stuck in a closet with him...he is just so annoying! LOL
Hey- don't look at me- I don't like
'em at all! LAMO! ;-)
House is fantastic, even moreso because he is such a jerk all the time. No one (I hope) wants that in real life but since most normal human beings wish we could occasionally act like that it is fun to live vicariously through his character on television.
the appeal of both house and snape, for me at least, is not that they are mean, but that they are smart. house is a jerk, but you get the feeling that he knows a lot about a lot, which is appealing.
hugh laurie, who plays house, appears to be totally different than house though, he's a funny and incredibly talented man but he seems a lot more...pleasant.
