Stuff Portrait Friday

Random and Odd's 3 items for this week, and she says:

1. Your Supplies (home, office, school -- whatcha got?)
2. Your Bag (w'’ve done it before, but I know you all change purses like I change undies)
3. Your Mail box (most look the same nowadays so pan out and let me see where you go get your mail.

You know what? Since this is Stuff Portrait Friday, I've decided I'll only use my "portrait" lens from now on, just to make things more interesting!

1. Your Supplies:

You'd think, being in the admin career field for so long, that the first thing that would pop into my mind when I hear the word "Supplies" would be pens and pencils and paper and copies and computers (and typewriters, who remembers typewriters?). But no. The first thing that pops into my mind is this:

tools

Of course, what would I take a picture of but my photographic supplies! Missing from the picture is the big tank, the Canon 20d...and the lens I'm going to purchase this weekend from the first money I've made: a $450.00 gift certificate to Amazon from Krista's friend Jenn, whose wedding I agree to shoot in September.

Which brings me to a question: I'm considering a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens to complement what I already have, which is the 50mm f/1.8 lens and a 17-85mm f/4-5.6. Would you say the 24-70 is a good idea or what would you suggest? I'd love the 70-200 f/2, but eeeeeeeeee that's too expensive!

2. Your Bag:

bag bag, close

Since I somewhat showed my "bag" in the previous shot (nice backpack that holds everything), I decided to show my new purse! I walked past this bag a few times in the store, and each time it called me a little louder: "Janet..." "Janet." "JANET!" so hey...I bought it! Wouldn't YOU buy a bag that could speak?

btw, like the background? LOL!

3. Your Mail box:

mailbox

We get our mail delivered right to our door, which pleases the dogs no end. I used to think my dogs were smart...but you'd THINK by now they'd've figured out the postperson is a permanent fixture, is NOT going away and sometimes even brings treats! And they show their appreciation by barking their fool heads off...sigh...

Love the bag. And that equipment, awesome.

The twins broke my digital camera. Well the lens won't close, I think it still works. AARRGGHH!!!! We got it when they first came out and it cost a small fortune. And, while I want a new one, wasn't ready to get one yet....

We are so related! I have the purse thing going too! So does Mandy! Somehow Mel didn't get that gene. I knew it! She's actually genetically not related to us! LOL

Hey...that's a pretty sweet bag! :)

I had to buy this hat that could speak once... ;)

personally I would be inclined to buy any inanimate object that spoke..but that's just me ;)...I am so jealous of all the lens and stuff....I have to resist the urge to buy an SLR camera...have to have to have to...any yeah I remember typewriters...still even use one from time to time...the admin field is so glamorous!

Ok! Well, your question was all gobbeldygook to me, so I'm afraid I'm not help there! LOL

Like the bag and yes, I do like the background! Especially that upper right-hand picture! ;)

Happy SPF! I played too!

GREAT bag...love it. I am shopping for a new bag to hold all of my stuff, but my wife keeps telling me they are all too feminine looking. I need to delve deeper into the world of handmade bags and see what I can find...
Regarding the lens issue: I've got a 60/2.8 Nikkor Macro lens that I am in absolute love with. I've also got the 70-200, but it's 4.5/5.6, so no big gain there. That's all in addition to my standard 50/1.8 and my 35-70/3.5.
That Nikkor 70-200/2.8 is on my wish list as well. I've found it for as low as $1429, and I'm still looking for a better price.
I would go with the 24-70/2.8 because of the low aperture. It's going to give you new possibilities that the 17-85 is giving you....
Good luck!

If a bag spoke to me, I'd run in the other direction. Not out of fear, but because it might repeat something I've said...lol! Mmmmm camera schtuff!
