Thirteen Things On My Mind
1. Cirque du Soleil's Love. Ringo summed it up best: "I loved the show and I loved the music! I think the show is really exciting. I thought the effects, the people doing their stuff, the projections were great, too much, really! I thought it was very emotional; who knew a few years ago when The Beatles were just chatting to each other making those records that we could put it to such great use. And it was emotional because two of us aren't there. Overall, it's a festival of love. Peace and love."
Click on this for a peek at the costumes! And some still photos here, here, and here.
2. Paris Las Vegas: I'd read some negative reviews about the hotel and staff, but I'm here to tell you, it was a fantastic experience I'd repeat again in a heartbeat (but only to see Love!)
3. Mammogram: Went for one today and there another woman who had the same name as me. They called Janet, and I didn't hear...so the other Janet got "my" exam. Don't these folks check last names? Birthdates? Quite the snafu, and took a while to straighten out.
4. Yearly physical: Had one of those a few weeks ago, everything was fine, cholesterol was excellent, woohoo! Doc did say I didn't have much vitamin D in my system, so I have to take supplements for eight weeks.
5. Wolf: No more seizures, knock on wood. He was quite feisty Monday at the vet's ... tried to grab her, I think it was in retaliation for the old thermometer up the butt thing! He missed tho, she's fast!
6. Tattoo: I've decided on a new design; it's going on my left foot in shades of firey red and orange.
7. Weddings: I've got a few coming up this summer that I'll be photographing; finally made plane reservations for one that'll be in St. Thomas.
8. Garden: Got it in late...I'm thinking I won't see tomatoes til September LOL! The herbs are doing nicely tho.
9. Amazon Wish List: I've been adding to it like crazy, it's a good place for me to put stuff so that I'll remember to buy it or at least remember that I'm interested in it! I've also been saving things on Kaboodle, but mostly recipes and URLs I want to remember.
10. Long drive: Down to MD after the 4th of July. Engagement party, gotta take pictures! Don't much feel like flying, I enjoy driving, I really do!
11. On my own: Been enjoying it, perhaps too much; for example, I had about 10 phone calls at work today and I BARELY had the patience to be civil (I don't generally get phone calls...but still). I'm going to become a curmudgeonly, eccentric old lady if I don't watch out!
12. Two more entertainment related things to look forward to this summer: First is the Harry Potter movie, Order Of The Phoenix, and second is the "end of all things", the last Harry Potter book, The Deathly Hallows. I'm utterly anticipating the former; the latter...well...yes and no. It'll be nice to see that Snape IS a good person after all, but...I don't really relish his death, and I know he has to die.
Loved this quote from EW Online: "As the icy, humorless magic instructor Severus Snape in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (opening July 11), Rickman may not be on screen long — but he owns every minute. He's magnificently intimidating, whether jousting with Daniel Radcliffe's Harry or turning a simple retort (''No idea'') into a mini-symphony of contempt."
Also quoted at that link was this: "He's the lecherous Judge Turpin opposite Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd." Oh me, oh my *fanning myself* the two of them together...a dream come true!!! Click here for a lovely picture of the good professor.
13. The End: Last song in Love, from the Beatles' Abbey Road album:
And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love
You make

You reminded me I need to make an appointment for my yearly physical. Sigh. Another thing on my list! Snape kind of creeps me out.
Mammogram - I'm due for one of those too. Thanks for the reminder.
Curmudgeonly and eccentric - hehe, what a combination. Janet the mad grump.
Hi Janet,
So nice to meet you! You were close to doing a total Vegas TT but I see you had it mostly summed up in the previous post. Speaking of Harry Potter, I'm starting to read the whole series to my kids. Only the older one can sit still for it at this point. I loved visiting the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but the terrible print they offered was not worth buying.
I see you visited with Jack Sparrow and me. Didn't dare kiss him for hygiene reasons!
I hate physicals. I hate anything to do with doctors or doctor's offices. I avoid them at all costs.
Snape's the one? Say it isn't so! He's too fun a character to kill off that quickly.
What a great list. I'm looking forward to the next instalment of all that is Harry Potter. First the movie... than the final book! YAY!
I posted my very first Thursday Thirteen today and am really enjoying reading everyone else's lists.
I will cling to my idea that Snape will be redeemed and saved from a perilous and tragic death....
Uggghh...yes, I just received my notice in the mail that I am due for a mammogram. It's like putting your yabos in a waffle iron!
That's my favorite line in life. I even have the song on some of my home made CD's.
ooh a new tat? sounds cool..glad wolf is doing so well and that your physical was good :) St. Thomas is BEAUTIFUL, the airport is a little crazy though...just in case you didn't know, LOl
When we take Jaime to the vet - she purrrrrrs.....no matter WHAT he does to her....
I think she rides the "little bus".....
Glad Wolf is ok.....
I have heard so many good things about Love that I'm thinking of going back to Vegas, just to see it.
Oh I can't wait for the movie. I think I'm even gonna take the afternoon off and see it.
1 - Some day I'll see a Cirque show.
3 - Wow, that's bad.
4 - Had one in Jan and my cholesterol was highish and they wanted me back in March. I didn't go yet. :p
5 - Yay!!
6 - Ooh, is that the one we'd been talking about?
9 - I do the same thing.
11 - What is this? I don't remember the last time I was completely alone.
12 - I gave in and pre-ordered the book from Amazon.
13 - That's one of my favorite Beatles songs.
I'm not convinced that Snape is the one going down. I still think she's going to kill off Harry. Grrrrr. ;) I've already got my tix for opening night of the movie!
I live at the doctor's office, which really makes it no better.
I love The End. Those lines run through my head a lot.
As for the previous post, it sounds like you had a blast. And that you like Vegas as much as I do (been there, done that, got the t-shirt, thanks anyway). Glad you had a good birthday.
Lots of great stuff on here!
Cirque de Soliel is amazing, wish the tickets weren't always so expensive! I'd love to take everyone I know.
The mammogram story is both funny and scary! Good thing you weren't scheduled for major surgery!
Glad to hear that Wolf is doing better.
We expect pics of the new tat, of course.
Isn't Amazon great?!?!? I use the wishlist and shopping cart as places to list things so I don't forget them. I'm sure that wasn't their intention, but it works great.
whoo hoo! I can read this at work!! but I can't view the pictures :(. I can't wait to see Love. I just hope it's still playing in 2009! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much :)
Oh, I'm curious about the new tat. Will you put up pictures when it's done?
All the best for your Wolf. I know how bad it feels to have a sick pet.
And are you sure Rowling is gonna kill off Snape? That'd be a shame. He is one of the few really entertaining characters left (most of the others have become a bit boring after book 3, which is why I don't care all too much about the series anymore).
I went to Vegas in March. I saw Tony N' Tina's Wedding and it was awesome. We also saw Mamma Mia. I highly recommend both shows. We lunched at Margaritaville while we were there. I loved the guys on stilts and the mermaid!
JANET!!! YOU RUINED THE BOOK! I had no idea who was going to die or if he was bad. booooooooo. (is this the part that the news leaked?? i am sooo sad now)
Glad you had a good time in vegas--- an incredible place!
So, in order to take my son to CUB SCOUT CAMP, I have to have a physical, myself. And when I called the doctor to make an appointment, her next opening was (wait for it!) September.
I now have a new doctor. Who can see me in two weeks.
re: the doctor's office mix-up - cripes! Isn't bureaucracy FUN. :P
Skipping over the HP part! Skipping! Don't want to know! La la la!....
I can't wait to see photos of the tattoo.
I have decided on a tree of life design for my upper right foot for my number 6.
I just have to get the cash now to do it.
Ahh, I can hear the song in my mind! Reminds me of some really good times.
That is so great that your health is superb!! And that Wolf is doing good!!
I still feel like Snape is gonna be innocent. He may end up being sacrificed, but hopefully he won't. :(
you just reminded me I need to make the appt for my yearly girl exam! i dread those!
I did a TT this week too...
