Walked right by this guy in the algae pond...he was standing stock still and I thought he was a rock at first; all I saw was his body! His legs were totally underwater and I didn't notice his neck and head. I got quite the crowd around me, everyone shushing their kids so as to not scare the bird away:

More shots on flickr, if you're interested!
I also got the garden into shape, planted the tomatoes and found a new strawberry plant amongst the mint! I had to trim the sage that grew back from last year; here's a shot of its lovely flowers:

wow, great shot of that guy!
We planted mid may....already have flowers coming up on tomatos and zucchini!!!!
mmmm....I love garden tomatos!
Whoa- that's fantastic. Don't you love it when you come upon something like that? :)
Oh wow, that heron shot is fantastic!! I'm a bit envious. We have a blue heron who visits our pond now and then and I've tried and tried and TRIED to get a photo of him - standing, flying, something! - and have yet to get one that's decent enough to keep.
Great shot as always. I walked a section of the C&O canal Sunday morning and we saw two of these guys flying. Let me tell you they are much more majestic on the ground, lol.
Beautiful heron shot! And you know how often I shoot these guys. It still thrills me to see them in the wild.
Good to see they're up in your state for a change instead of down here, stealing fish from my pond. ;)
Really nice shot of the heron. I love to watch them stalk through the water.
That heron looks almost like a sculpture, doesn't he? Very stately. :)
