I haven't done an iPod entry in a looooong time!

I was driving home from Whole Foods tonight, listening to the ElfPod (that's what I named my iPod mini, shut up!). I am an inveterate scanner of radio stations, and funnily enough...I also do this to my iPod. It got me thinking...what are the five songs you'd NEVER skip on your iPod? This is a bit different from "what 5 songs would you stop scanning your radio for" because ... well, on the iPod if you skip past a song, you can go back at any time. You know...it's ON your iPod, it's not going anywhere :-) but on the radio, once the song is over, it's over.

So...these are the five songs I'd never skip on my iPod:

- Werewolves of London, by Warren Zevon: I don't know why I love this song, but I do. With all my heart.
- The Cowboy Song, by Thin Lizzy: Man, I loved Thin Lizzy back in the day...this song just reminds me of the beach, warm weather, good times, boys
- Santa Monica, by Everclear: I was deep in my R&B and rap phase when I heard this for the first time and immediately fell in LOVE with it...lyrics AND music. I FELT it.
- One Week, by Barenaked Ladies: It's bouncy, cute, upbeat and makes me smile :-)
- Suffragette City, by David Bowie: Wham, bam, thank you ma'am. Quintessential Bowie, awesome song.

and ... my one guilty pleasure: Method of Modern Love by Hall & Oates. I love Daryl Hall's voice, it's so beautiful!

What are your five songs and your one guilty pleasure? If you don't have an iPod or similar device, feel free to use the songs you'd not pass over when you hear them on the radio :-)

Don't have an i-pod. But, if I did, these are the five songs I'd never skip:
1."Song to the Siren" - This Mortal Coil. There are many versions of this Tim Buckley tune but this is the one I just can't get enough of.
2. "Helpless" - Neil Young. So simple, so enduring.
3. "Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division. Love it.
4. "Pictures of You" - The Cure. If there's one song that sums up my love life, this is it.
5. "Atmosphere" - Joy Division. Turn it up and soak it in. Gorgeous.

That's what I think today - tomorrow, who knows?

Ok, well here are 5 randoms songs that itunes picked out for me:
1. Live- Turn my head, I like this song cause it is kind of slow and I like the "turn my head" melody part
2. Dido - See you when you're 40 - soft sort of mellow selection, I think that she has a beautiful voice.
3. A classical piece by Sainte-Colombe - Prelude played by Jordi Savall on a viol (an old viola like instrument with a much richer, darker tone than a cello - partially due to the gut strings not wire like modern instruments)
4. La Cienga just smiled by Ryan Adams, a song I found on Pandora. I like it because it is just nice sounding and fairly upbeat.
5. Ada and Inman by Gabriel Yared, from the Cold Mountain Soundtrack - it's just a relaxing soothing piece!

You know, I never realized it but it seems like I like a lot of pieces because they are relaxing ;)

1. "Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney. During the Christmas season if this comes on, I do not change the station.
2. Anything by the Beatles.
3. "Layla" by Eric Clapton
4. "Every Little Thing She Does" The Police
5. "100 Years" 5 For Fighting.
But this all changes depending on my mood.

Hi!

1. "New Shoes", by Paolo Nutini- I heard this on the radio and I went straight to itunes and purchased it! I love the beat and the words...and of course I love "new shoes".

2. "Crazy", by Gnarls Barkley. This song makes me laugh especially when I'm having a bad day at work. Why? not sure. My supervisor used to dance and sing to this song and she just retired. I guess it reminds me of her. I miss her!

3. "The Gambler", by Kenny Rogers. I just love this song. I used to play it when we had poker games at our house.

4. "Shining", by Eileen Rose. I absolutely love this song. I first heard it from the soundtrack for "The Rookie." I play it all the time!

5. "Do You Feel Like We Do", by Peter Frampton. I like the version done "Live". The song is looong but I like it.

And one guilty pleasure? Kid Rock.. I have no idea but I like most Kid Rock songs just before interviews, meetings, work, it just kind of gives me a jump start if you will. ;) But he also slows it down, try-> "Only God Knows Why." Great song!

I'm a big-time channel flipper on the radio and I do the same thing on my iPod. My guilty pleasure songs are to embarrassing to list in public!
