I love going places during the holiday season! France at Christmas is gorgeous, as is Italy, Canada, Germany, Japan, Norway, England. However, in reality, I've only been to France & Japan during the holidays, but I HAVE been to Epcot, where you can visit all those places in a single day!
Deb and Laura SHOULD open a B&B because they were the BEST hostesses ever! They made sure we were happy, fed and having fun every second of every day...even while sleeping, I swear, they filled the house with scents of zepolis and sugarplums!
Here's a sampling of our itinerary:
Saturday: Arrived in Orlando, met Deb & Laura at the airport, and off we went to their lovely timeshare. Dropped off the luggage, got a tour of the place, and then went grocery shopping and had dinner at the clubhouse. Came home, opened presents (they gave us gift certs for massages at the spa!!!), watched a bit of a movie and hit the hay.
Sunday: Breakfast at the Waffle House...grits!...yum! Love that place, none of 'em up here :-( Then off to the Magic Kingdom! We bought a two day pass to the Disney parks and went back and forth between the Magic Kingdom (LOVE saying that) and Epcot. Rode Pirates of the Caribbean (the first animatronic Johnny...er...Captain Jack Sparrow was TOTALLY awesome!), The Haunted Mansion and saw a 3D show featuring Mickey & Donald :-) Then Epcot! And tons of walking and drinking and eating and shopping, capped off by some AWESOME fireworks!
Monday: Used our gift certificates for a wonderful massage, then back to the timeshare for a delicious breakfast cooked by our gracious hostesses! Poor Laura was not feeling well at all, and decided not to go back to the parks with us, and Deb stayed home to take care of her. They were nice enough, though, to drop us off! So back to the Magic Kingdom for another ride on Pirates, and then back to Epcot for more shopping, drinking and eating. Deb & Laura picked us up about 930, and Laura made some zepolis (italian cookie/biscuits thingies, which were delicious).
Tuesday: Total pool day! Had breakfast at the clubhouse, laid out by the pool, took pictures, swam, sunned, read; had lunch at the clubhouse, repeat LOL! Went shopping to a Disney outlet and a regular outlet, then to Macaroni Grill for dinner and Krispy Kreme (Deb & Laura had never had one!) for dessert.
Wednesday: Deb & Laura took us to the airport where we did a bit more shopping (Lush!!!) and wandered off to our gate, only to find our flight was cancelled! Even that worked out well, we caught an earlier, direct flight, and were whisked away home!
And I'm wicked missing it today; it's FREEZING here!

Yay, you're back! :)
I love Waffle House too! The scattered, covered, and smothered. And Krispy Kreme when its hot.
Sounds sooooo nice laying around in the sun and massages and magic kingdom... heaven.
It is really cold here (record temperature for December). I can't imagine how cold it is up there.
sounds like such a fun time!! I'm glad you got to get away for a little bit. When I went to disney (it was a marching band trip... lol) my fav was epcot, esp Japan. The store there is so cool.
Timeshares sound very intriguing. Too bad I have no money to buy anything like that. hehe. Maybe someday.
It really did get cold fast. Brrr!
First, I agree, France at Christmas is amazing.
However, I prefer to be home for the holidays. As per the song.
In other news, I need to know if you want your Christmas card on time (going out in the morning) sans cd, or possibly late, but with my 2006 Definitive Christmas offering.
(And if I tell you I scribbled a bit of a Snape/Elise Christmas one-off in it, does that change your answer?)
sounds like a lot of fun...but how can you not have fun when Waffle House, Krispy Kreme and Disney are involved!! p.s. we'll be watching Pirates II tonite, can't wait...welcome back
Dude, what is it with people who live up North and the Waffle House?
Great rundown on your trip. Sounds like a nice time :)
This is why my husband and I are planning to retire to Florida. Nice photo....I adore Florida and can't wait until we sell our house....spending the Christmas holiday in Florida is always the best!
Cheers,
Carol
GRITS?!?!?!?! ARGH!! Nooooooooooooo!
