The Reading Chair

While walking through a cemetary in Lowell yesterday, I came across this unique monument:

chair bw chair facing tree

I'd love to have such a monument when I pass...with the book being The Hobbit, and the dogs on the arms Max & Wolf. Just beautiful!

I think that's a really cool idea instead of a gravestone.

I'm really not into cemetries and all that, but that strikes me as a much more fitting memorial than the usual stuff.

that is a totally cool monument...reminds me of my grandfather...I bet the person who made it was excited to do something so unusual...

Incredible. Wow.

Wow, I like that a lot better than a tombstone. Finances not withstanding, I wish there were more things like this in the cemetary!

That's an awesome monument. :)

Cemetery sculpture is fascinating...and so are photographs of it. Dramatically draped angels, those creepy gothic skeletons, the weirdly charming, simple art on Puritan headstones...I think I like the full-on sculptural ones like this one best, but they're all interesting.

(I don't really care for most of the modern laser-engraved-looking ones though. They have a very mass - produced feel.)

That is so freaking cool!!!! I've thought about my monument as well. I had always hoped that one day I'd be rich enough to build one of those big, gothic above ground crypts to bury the family in. Would be creepy, morbid, and fun!

Very cool ... I would like to have my ashes scattered on the ground where a wolf pack lives and travels ... I am not sure about a monument though.

Oh wow. That is too cool!!!! I love cemetaries, and photos of cemetaries. I guess I'm strange in that way, but I can't help it. ;)
