turkeys, traffic & Home Depot

I backed out of my driveway this morning, no easy task some mornings, and headed to work. Just down the street and around a slight corner, I saw a car in the middle of the road, stopped. I was about to swear and honk when I noticed three turkeys (bird, not human) crossing the road.

(Not one of the actual turkeys I saw this morning, but still, a turkey I saw wandering down a side street)

These wild turkeys roam our neighborhood, and maybe it's good if they cause traffic to slow down. People love to speed up and down this road; awhile back a car actually flipped over just across the street.

I noticed this sign today at the top of my road when I was out walking Wolf:

I'd seen these other signs before:

and while Home Depot might bring more revenue to my town, it'll also take away business from the local hardware store and generate tons more traffic.

No thanks!

That's a great photo of the turkey! We have lots of wild turkeys around our place, but I've never gotten a really good close shot - ours are too shy.

LOL! I can't believe you saw three turkeys! I saw three turkeys last week at my house (just forgot to mention it). Gizmo was growling out the window and I didn't know what he was growling at until i heard garble garble (or however you pronounce turkey talk). I guess they made it to your neck of the woods in a matter of a couple of days.

Where the heck are they thinking to put HD? Is there any room there? your center is small as it is and I don't know of empty spaces unless they are knocking down stuff.

Love the turkey photo. We have six that live around here. I see them all the time.
I wouldn't be happy if Home Depot chose our town to build in. A new grocery store, yes, but not Home Depot. It just wrecks the ambiance, doesn't it?

Dude, there are plenty of HD's within 15 miles, Ricca don'need it.

I saw a goose and her babies crossing this morning, it made me smile.

Gotta admit that I'm a hypocrite. I love Home Despot and Lowe's eventhough I understand the local store argument. Just like I frequent Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Amazon online eventhough I love small, independent new and used bookstores. Its the nature of wanting what we want now at the lowest price possible. Good luck with convincing Home Depot not to move in. It will be about as successful as the fictional big vs. little store in You've Got Mail.

Damg will you tell that turkey that his relative is down here wandering around looking for him?
