***I'm going to leave this on top til June 10th...in case anyone would like to donate***
On June 11, my friend Monique (or as I like to call her, Transvestite Bait) is walking 7 miles to help raise money for Children's Hospital Boston in honor of her son, Cam. Here's his story, in her words:
"When Cam was born he was diagnosed as having VACTERL Association. Three hours later he was whisked away to Children's. He had surgery at 2 days old to connect his esophagus to his stomach, remove a connection between his trachea and esophagus (basically, whatever he swallowed would go into his lungs), repair some abnormalities with his heart (asd/vsd/pda and right arched aorta) and fix some of his lower plumbing (he had a connection between his urinary tract and his bowels).
10 days later he came home. he's had 4 surgeries total at Children's and you'd never know the kid ever had a problem. His second stay at Children's was at 6 months old, his third stay at 8 months, his fourth and final trip was at 2 years old. If it wasn't for that hospital and the care he got there, he wouldn't be here with us."
If you'd like to contribute, just click the above link to her blog and then the "sponsor me" link in her blog. It's for a good cause :-)

I'd never heard of VACTERL before. It certainly sounds like it scrambles the developing insides of a baby. I find it amazing that they can correct all those plumbing problems on a newborn baby.
Thank God he is okay! I was getting all teary seeing how he was just born and then the complications. Thank God for the hospital!!! :)
Wow, amazing! Thank God for seeing them through this ordeal and he's okay.
That is quite an ordeal and very kind of you to keep the post up. I donate to the Children's Hospital in our area each year.
Michele sent me today. Have a nice weekend and good luck to your friend and her family.
That's a real ordeal!
