My Dad has such fond memories of this house; he had wonderful summers there, swimming in the ocean, running over the rocks, eating meals at the picnic table in the back yard, sleeping on the porch. I vaguely remember going there as a kid...if memory serves it was down a dirt road.
I found this picture, a water color done by my grandmother's eldest (? Mel, MB, is that right?) sister, the one who doesn't have anything to do with the family, while cleaning out Mom's bureau. Figured Dad would like to have it framed and so that was one of his birthday presents this year.
He loves it :-)

That was a really good present idea! I'm glad that your Dad liked it.
What a fabulous find! Is the house still there? You're the site of the day at Michele's, congratulations!
Marion was the middle child. Tilly first then Marion and then Mary was the baby.
The picture is great and my Mom loves her copy.
The house was torn down not long after they were forced to sell. It is a story you should have my Mom tell you as she remembers it well.
We too went there on occasion and just walked around the town and went to the candy store.

What a fabulous find! Is the house still there? Looks like a nice day out there today...maybe no snow? Here's hoping! I'm here from Michele's today!
BLEH!! I'm so sorry, when I pressed post, there was such a long wait that I pressed stop to try again, realized I got it mixed up about the site of the day, went to post again, realized I hadn't changed it, pressed stop again, then rewrote it and posted again..what a doofus!

Nicely done! What a great gift. You're such a good daughter!
