<< I crack myself up | Main | The year was 1984...[2/22] >>
For crissakes have a cuppa tea ;-)

Next up on my list of old guys to see in concert: Ray Davies!

Did I even mention how much I adored the Kinks in the late 70s, early 80s? I brought my [first] wedding album in to work one day, to show my much beloved and missed office mate, Diana. As she thumbed thru it, she saw a picture of my apartment in Colorado (where I lived for six months while the first ex went through Air Force tech school) and noticed a Kinks poster on the wall. She said...who are the Kinks? I started singing Lola...L O L A...Lola and she went OH! I know that song!

Bet you just did, too :-)

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry-cola
See-oh-el-aye cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola
El-oh-el-aye Lola la-la-la-la Lola

I love that song. I will say that is one of the good things K did, open my eyes to some other music... LZ, Kinks, etc...

I feel so old. I know all the songs you're talking about and then I look at the dates and think, God, that was a long time ago!
