1. Today is the 25th anniversary of the day John Lennon was shot point blank and killed in front of his home; I am as upset by that today as when I first heard the news. If you're old enough, do you remember where you were when you first heard the news? Links to other Thursday Thirteens! |
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It's easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! My Thursday Thirteen:

I was in my Senior year in High School....when he was killed. I remember like it was yesterday...I felt like someone punched me in the stomach. I was never much of a Beatles fan but I was a huge John Lennon fan....
One time, for his Birthday (which is in October and is the same day as Sean's) Yoko hired a sky writer plane to fill the sky with "Happy Birthday John and Sean" when Sean was just a little guy. Being so close to the city we saw it and thought it was just the greatest thing.....
I used to go to a place called the "Bizarre Bar" - lol....strange place but lots of fun!
I miss John Lennon.
And Sam Adams ANYTHING is good. Where is my Cranberry Lambic this year?

You did not stand up your girlfriend! No! Oh Janet... I had such high hopes for your gym attendance. Sigh. (giggles, really, I just feel bad for your girlfriend, that I am her and you are my neighbor in this situation!)
Love comes when you least expect it, and from a place you wouldn't even think to look.
Hugs to you!!
I loved #9, Janet!
Here from Michele's!
I am so bad about doing these things, but I like to read them.
#5 was a problem at my office today, as well.
I love things Japanese as well. I have serveral woodblock prints. One nice one of waterfall and bamboo is in my office. I like your blog-style. My 13 is up at http://www.20six.co.uk/Enigma
Wish you well!
Great List! I LOVE Fellowship of the Ring!!! I have the collectors edition of the Lord of the Rings movies and all three Harry Potter movies.
I did my 13 today too, drop by and say hi!
smilin toast eh? interesting ;)
Michele sent me to see you, Janet.
I don't like TRex but I do like Lennon. I was in DC visiting friends when he was shot. It was quite a shock though I was young enough that it didn't have the impact it would have on me now. I was 19 at the time.
Shoot, I forgot!
The Bizarre Bazaar rocks, however, last year it was held at the YWCA in Cambridge and there was over a 2-hour wait to get in. Granted, we tried to go the first night so we could get the best stuff, and plus they were having a band that was only doing Theremin Christmas Carols. Im just saying go early so if there is a line, you can get a good spot. And even though I didnt see the exact toast you were talking about, I bet Heidi made it, from mypapercrane.com. I buy a lot of her stuff online. Adorable.
Hey - Bizarre Bazaar smiling toast girl has a blog: http://mypapercrane.com/ I've read hers for a LONG time! She's very talented, and makes lots of goddies like the toasts. Have fun!
I really like your # 12. Snape is an aquired taste but once you aacquire it...vavoom baby!
